Mud Spring Canyon is the farthest canyon down the escarpment of the Red Rocks. The approach is over rough unpaved roads at the southern entry to the wilderness. Once you park near the trail head your next challenge is a 2 1/2 mile approach over open desert with very little shade. But the solitude encountered in this canyon makes up for the difficulties. Some of the most remote and difficult rock climbs can be found in this area, if you have the skills to try them.
This painting was done on my first visit to the canyon in 2002. Original watercolor, unframed, 10 x 14
